๐๐๐๐๐๐ ๐๐๐ ๐๐๐๐ were biding their time and waiting for the FBI to leave, Sister Maggie had joined them and Olivia and Karen couldn't have felt more uncomfortable. Olivia sat in silence on her creaky bed, hands clasped together in her lap as Karen and the Sister had rifled through some clothes for the wolf to wear, her white shirt having been stained by blood.
"I'll come back as soon as I can, you'll be safe here." The Sister reassured the three.
Olivia sniffed the air and groaned as the scent of dog hit her nose. The FBI had brought search dogs. Luckily for them, Olivia was more than capable of sending the dogs into a little bit of a frenzy. Her brother had managed to scare off a search dog with the simple glow of his eyes and Scott had once made a dog submit with a small growl.
"No, we won't. They brought in search dogs." Matt muttered with a sigh.
Olivia stood and made her way over to the man, placing a hand on his shoulder, "That's no issue for me. I can get rid of them." The wolf felt a growl rumble at the back of her throat before it escaped her slightly parted lips. It wasn't loud enough for any of the humans on the floor above to hear but after just a second, both Olivia and Matt could tell that the search dogs had heard her.
They could hear the sounds of the dogs barking and growling at FBI agents, chewing and tugging at their leashes before pulling the agents in a direction that was the complete opposite to where the stowaways were hiding.
Matt shook his head, dumbfounded, "They're gone."
"Told you. I'm the superior species; they submit to me..." In an attempt to lighten Matthew's mood just the slightest, she whispered low enough so that only he could hear, "...just like you."
She could barely contain the laugh that threatened to leave her as she heard Matt cough to cover up his own laugh that threatened to spew through his pout, shaking his head as he did.
Olivia nodded to the Sister and Karen. "We're good."
Karen breathed out a laugh, her mind not quite understanding how the woman had done what she did, "I honestly still can't believe that you're a werewolf, that's- that's... I don't even know."
Sister Maggie handed the wolf a sweater, giving her arm a light tap accompanied by a tight smile, "I'll go up and make sure they don't come down, alright."
Olivia returned the smile as she slid the sweater over her shirt, reveling in the added warmth, "Thank you."
The conversation between Matthew and Karen that followed shortly after the Sister's departure was yet another that filled the room with tension that Olivia could physically cut with a claw. Karen confronted him, asking him if the reason he pushed everyone away was down to the fact that he had been abandoned all of his life.
That sparked a rather heated argument between the two before Karen's face contorted and her tone came out far harsher than Olivia thought possible, "Just shut up for a second, Matt, okay?"
Nobody spoke, Matt remained quiet with an expectant expression on his face whilst Olivia had her lips pursed as she quietly took a seat on the bed, her eyes darting between the two before Karen sighed, "Look, I was never gonna leave you up there, and I'm not leaving you now. Neither will Foggy. Despite the fact that you've been a complete asshole to him, he'd still follow you off a cliff."
Matt nodded to himself before his head tilted towards Olivia who rose a brow, "Yeah."
"Okay. So, what, you agree?"
"That could actually work."
"I don't get it." Karen crossed her arms, not entirely sure what the hell Matt was talking about, "What could work?"
"Foggy."
Finally, Olivia thought; some good news. Matt was finally allowing his friends to be a part of whatever the hell they were working towards. She had no idea what completely insane plan Matthew was concocting, but if Foggy was involved, she wasn't entirely worried.
โโโ
Everybody was on board with the plan; Matthew had called Foggy and explained that the best way to keep everybody safe, would be for Foggy to represent Karen and hand her over to the NYPD, not the FBI.
Matthew and Olivia had left Karen with Sister Maggie, trusting that the plan would work whilst they made a quick escape and climbed their way to the roof of the church, listening to their plan unfold.
Olivia stood a step in front of Matt, the cool air of the night brushing past her and ruffling the small strands of hair that framed her face whilst the blinding lights of the police vehicles flashed on the ground below.
Olivia turned her face towards Matt as he came up next to her, "Do you think it'll work?" The vigilante spoke.
The wolf pondered for a moment. She believed Foggy to be as smart as one could be, he kept himself calm and collected... most of the time, and he was good with facts and law which was exactly what they needed. She trusted the man to do his part in ensuring Karen's safety. "I think Foggy will pull through, he's short of a marble, but he's good at what he does."
Matt nodded, a breathy laugh escaping him at the wolf's comment. He, of course, agreed. Foggy was one of the best men he knew and there was no way that the attorney would do anything less than a stellar job at keeping their friend safe. "That's Foggy."
Olivia could detect the hint of sadness in his tone, the emotion was becoming more profound with each day and Olivia could tell that though the man might deny it, he missed his friends. "I'm sorry I wasn't there today... I thought you wanted to be alone."
"You don't have to apologize, Liv. I did wanna be alone, though I wouldn't have argued if you had come with me."
Olivia stared up at him, his eyes and nose covered by his mask, just as her mouth and nose were. She pulled her turtleneck down and placed a soft kiss on his lips, her hand caressing his cheek as she did, "I'm sorry about Father Lantom."
Matt swallowed as his head dropped slightly. He had known the man for his entire life and now he was gone, just like everyone else... though, he had to admit that not everybody was gone; Foggy and Karen, as always, stayed by his side no matter how hard he tried to turn them away, and Olivia... she stayed too.
His hand reached up to cover her own, whilst his other rose towards her face, thumb caressing her lips before he gently gripped her chin and kissed the wolf once again. "Me too."
Both Olivia and Matthew tilted their heads in sync at the sound of a commotion below them. Karen had finally made her appearance to the FBI; now it was time to see if their plan would work.
Foggy stood his ground, insisting that Karen was to be handed over to the NYPD and though Poindexter tried to turn the conversation on its head and take Karen in, Brett Mahoney stepped in and put his foot down.
Olivia listened closely as Nadeem cut into the conversation. She had high hopes that the man would turn things around and help them, help Karen.
"Ben, we're all cut up about what happened here," Nadeem spoke, trying his best to keep Poindexter at least somewhat level-headed before directing his attention towards Mahoney. "A word. Please."
Olivia could hear Nadeem lead Mahoney away from the group, Mahoney scoffed, "You need to stand your people down."
"Listen to me very carefully, if we take Karen Page into custody, she'll be dead before she reaches HQ. Just get her the hell away from us. We clear?"
Olivia felt the corners of her covered lips curve upwards; finally, Nadeem was really coming through.
"Crystal."
"Detective Mahoney will take custody of the suspect," Nadeem confirmed as he rejoined the group, Brett trailing behind him.
Olivia could hear the anger behind Pendexter's words as he raised his voice, "Bullshit!"
"We'll have her back in an hour. Hattley will pull strings. You can't kill her here anyway."
"You messed up, Ray. You really... really messed up."
"He came through." Olivia muttered, more-so to herself.
"He did," Matthew spoke, mildly surprised himself. That moment had proved that Nadeem truly was on their side and was willing to do whatever it took to stop Fisk. "Ready to go?"
Olivia inhaled a deep breath; they had planned to meet Karen and Foggy somewhere further into the city which meant more rooftop jumping for the pair. With a quick exhale, Olivia took a step back before launching herself forward at full speed and jumping across to the next rooftop. "Try to keep up, Matty." She whispered beneath her breath, knowing he would hear.
Matt shook his head with a small chuckled as he listened to the woman take off without him before picking up his own feet and following after the wolf who wanted to be chased.
โโโ
Olivia's boot-clad feet slammed on the damp surface of the roof she and Matt were meeting Foggy and Karen on. The click of her steps echoed out as she made her way to the edge of the roof, leaning against the railing as she closed her eyes and listened out for Matt. She could hear the man vaulting himself over buildings and climbing his way closer before his feet collided on the roof she was waiting on.
"Took you long enough." She teased as the man made his way closer, a smile on his lips.
"Hm. Well, you're a werewolf." He responded as he reached her, hands latching onto her hips as he pulled her closer.
Olivia's hands reached his neck, interlacing together as she smiled, "And you're a blind ninja with super senses."
"I'm not - I'm not a ninja."
"Sure." Olivia dragged out, silencing whatever response the man was going to retort with by connecting their lips, pulling away as she heard Foggy and Karen's footsteps reaching the door that led to the roof they were on.
Olivia's gaze moved towards Foggy as the man allowed a small smile to grace his lips. He stuffed a hand inside one of his suit jackets pockets, "So it looks like you needed my help after all."
Matt sighed, nodding his head, "Yeah. Yeah, I did Foggy. You're right."
"Do you have any idea how much life has sucked for Karen and me while you were off doing your own thing?"
"No, but I'm sorry, Foggy. Maybe I was wrong to... to push you away."
There was a beat of silence as Foggy exchanged a quick look with Olivia who rose a brow. The attorney brought his hand out of his pocket, smoothening his jacket down before letting out a breath of a laugh, "Okay, it's insanely hard to fight with you if you keep agreeing with me."
"Good, 'cause I don't wanna fight with you. Look, the way I've treated you, the way I've treated you both..." He nodded between hit two old friends before tilting his head towards Olivia who rose a brow, "Even the way I've treated you at points... you've all deserved better."
Olivia sighed, inaudibly as she shook her head. Sure, she and Matt had arguments when they had first made it out of Midland and began to recover, but ever since their spat after Matt made himself known to Foggy at the bar, they had been fine. Their relationship had improved and developed immensely.
"Yes, we did." Foggy agreed with a sharp nod.
"Yes, you did."
"Okay, so where do we go from here?" Karen asked the group, her arms wrapping around herself as she shivered from the cold of the night.
Matthew frowned in conflict, his jaw twitching, "I don't want to leave you, but I can't ask you to be accomplices to what I have to do now."
"What does that mean?" Foggy asked his friend, the slight ominous tone catching his attention.
Olivia dragged a hand down her face before pushing her hair back, "It means Matt doesn't know whether he's gonna be killing Fisk or not."
Foggy gaped as his eyes flickered between the wolf and the devil; the entire time he had known Matt was Daredevil, he hadn't ever killed a soul, immensely hurt? Yes. But kill? That wasn't Matt. "That building falling on you really did mess up your head."
"We put him in prison, Foggy. Look what happened." Matt countered. They had managed to beat Fisk once and place him in prison and all it had done was grow the villain's resources, he couldn't allow it to happen again. The only thing that as preventing him from making up his mind was Karen's words alongside Olivia's; the wolf had been torn up when she had told him about the man she had killed, the way she had described it was as if she was still being haunted by his ghost.
"It's not gonna be the same this time. They're gonna throw him in some supermax hole where he can't compromise anybody."
"Come on, I know you're not that naรฏve." The vigilante countered causing Olivia to roll her eyes. The conversation was going nowhere.
The wolf moved from her position next to Matt and Joined Karen's side; the pair sharing a small look as Olivia leaned against the railing, her head falling back whilst she waited for Matt and Foggy to come to any kind of resolve.
"It's called having faith in the system. Something you used to have."
"It's called facing the reality that some people are so rich and powerful, the system simply can't handle them, they actually are above the law."
"That's the bullshit that people like Fisk want you to believe. Nobody's above the law." Foggy retorted passionately. He had spent way too much time memorizing those boring books and papers, going to college, and putting up with a friend whose nighttime activities directly conflicted with his teachings to give up on it now. "The only thing powerful enough to take down scumbags like him is the law."
"He's twisted it into something that actually protects him."
Matt was right, as much as Olivia hated it; Fisk had twisted the law and those who were supposed to abide by it to suit his own needs and it was going to be a task and a half to break that down. But they had to try.
"Federal law, maybe, but we can build a state case that even Blake Tower can't deny, force him to take it to the grand jury."
"Fisk has been five steps ahead of us at every turn. You really think he's gonna allow that to happen?"
"You're right. You're right." Karen interrupted, her voice calm as she tried to break up the disagreement, "Maybe just hear him out."
"Fine. I'm telling you, it's not gonna work. You wanna give the law another try, sure, I'm all ears."
"Simple. Step one, we work together." Foggy presented as he gestured to each of them. It was a simple step and thankfully Olivia knew Matthew would be on board with that step at least. "Step two, we come up with a plan. And step three, we execute that plan." He rushed out, ignoring the chuckle that came from Matt.
"That's genius. Come up with that by yourself?"
Olivia groaned, drawing the attention towards her; she was beyond tired of the disagreements. They needed a solid plan, like their original one with Jaspar... that was exactly it, they needed someone in the same position as Jaspar; someone who knew Fisk and his activities, someone who had something to lose if Fisk continued on.
"Nadeem." The wolf blurted.
In sync, three sets of brows furrowed. Foggy shrugged as he questioned the wolf, "What about him?"
"The plan with Jaspar Evans would have worked, so we need another one similar to that. We need somebody who knows Fisk, who knows what's happening behind the scenes. But we also need somebody with the proper motivation to help us." Olivia paused for a second, sniffling as the cold made her nose run, "Nadeem wants to do good; he's been trying to help us. He has a family that could be ruined if his position with Fisk goes south. We use him because... because he has everything to lose."
There was silence as she finished speaking and the wolf could see the gears whirring in each of their heads before a slow smile spread across Foggy's face. A light chuckle escaped him as he clicked a finger and pointed at the wolf, "That's step two right there."
Matt stepped forward, impressed as his head faced Olivia's direction. It was step two. They could have Nadeem cooperate with them, after all, from what they had listened to back at the church Nadeem was already in trouble with Fisk and Poindexter for not taking Karen. That was motivation. "I knew there was a reason I kept you around."
Olivia scoffed in amusement, "I will throw you off this roof."
"I don't doubt it."
โโโ
The plan was approved. Everyone was in and willing to contribute, it was down to Olivia and Matthew to get agent Nadeem on board, once they did, the plan would be executed.
Liv and Matt had left Foggy and Karen shortly after their conversation on the roof and began to head towards the direction of Nadeem's home. They needed him on their side and despite the fact that he had already sold them out, the conversation the agent had with Poindexter, as well as helping to keep Karen safe only proved that he truly had good intentions.
They needed him.
"You knew them both before all of this," Matthew stated rather than questioned as he jumped his way down a building, landing on his feet beside the wolf who was waiting for him.
Olivia nodded, her hands in her pocket as the pair continued to walk; she never did tell Matt how she had met his friends. "I was walking back to Jess's one night; they were on the other side of the road and were being followed. I kept an eye on them to make sure they'd be okay and, well, it ended up with four men unconscious and my Chinese food in Foggy's hand."
"They told me about that. Never said your name but they told me someone had helped them, someone with powers."
"Apparently, I have a habit of meeting people in weird circumstances; those two then, you when we were keeping a man captive... good times."
Matt continued to walk at the woman's pace, the pair guiding themselves through alley's and keeping themselves out of the light cast by the streetlamps. "Once this is over, what are you gonna do?"
Olivia stammered for a moment, her mouth opening and closing as she struggled to find what to say; "Honestly? I have no idea. I gave my room at Jess's to Malcome... he's pretty much taken my job, which I mean, good for him; he needs it, deserves it. So I guess I'll need to finally find somewhere to live... maybe get a job, help Jess on the side... I don't know."
Matt hummed as he listened to the woman spout off ideas in the hopes of finding something worthwhile. He paused, the noise from his heavy footsteps stilling as the wolf turned around to look at him in confusion. "You could stay with me."
"Are you-" Olivia laughed in slight shock, "Are you asking me to move in with you? Already?"
"We've lived together for the past couple of months, haven't we?"
"True." Olivia stepped forward, eyes running over the vigilante's face as a smile tugged at her rose-colored lips. "Are you sure?"
Matt breathed a laugh as he brought a hand up to the curve of her cheek, "Yes Olivia. I want you to move in with me."
"Okay." Olivia agreed, her smile blooming into a grin as her head tilted into his palm. She stepped back, her bottom lip pulled between her teeth as she hummed, "Another successful ploy to get me into bed."
"That's an added bonus."
"Oh, I know."
"And they say I'm the cocky one."
Olivia continued onwards, leaving Matt with no choice but to follow, "That's because you are."
By the time the two had reached Nadeem's home it was obvious that the family had guests; uninvited ones. Gunshots sounded off, items clattered to the floor and the sound of glass shattering perked up their ears.
The two jumped into action; identities concealed and ready for a fight. Olivia could hear the pounding of two hearts on the second floor of the home... one belonged to a child. She could smell the fear of the two from outside the home and without hesitation, she jumped to the second floor. Her claws were extended and dug into the wood of the windowsill.
Olivia gripped the bottom of the window, sliding it open as carefully and quietly as she could; hoping that she would further add to the fear that radiated inside of the room that smelt like lavender and rose.
Whimpering hit her ears the moment her boots landed on the bathroom tiles. She paused and stayed in her place; her voice as soft as she could make it. "I'm not here to hurt you. I'm here to help you, I promise."
Slowly a woman rose from the bathtub, conflict covered her face and Olivia couldn't blame her; she was a mother, scared for her life and the life of her child and now she had to face a woman who had broken in through the bathroom window and had her face covered.
Olivia sighed and rose her had as slowly as she could, lowering the turtleneck that covered her mouth and nose, revealing herself to the woman. "I swear. I'm here to help you."
"Who are you?"
Olivia sighed. She didn't exactly want to tell the woman who she was but if it meant getting her trust and being able to get her and her son out safely, she'd do it. "My name is Olivia Hale. Your husband is downstairs fighting people off so they don't get to you. Let me help you and--"
The wolf's attention snapped towards the bathroom door, her sensitive ears picking up the smallest of noises from one of the bedrooms. The wolf brought a finger to her mouth in a shushing gesture and upon the understanding and cooperative nod received from the woman in the tub, Olivia slowly crept towards the bathroom door.
She could hear everything that was happening downstairs, Matt and Nadeem had rid the first floor of all intruders and now Matthew was trying his best to get through to Nadeem, get the agent to trust them. Olivia redirected her attention to the slow footsteps and the minuscule squeaking of one of the bedroom doors.
With just the tiniest of creaks, she opened the bathroom door, leaving it just slightly open in order to prevent more noise. The hallway was small, a room at the end, and one opposite the bathroom she had exited; the noise had come from the end bedroom.
She crept her way forward and the moment the intruder opened the bedroom door Olivia dropped to her knees and used her razor-sharp claws to slash at the intruder's legs.
They yelled in pain and Olivia wasted no time in grabbing the gigantic gun they held in their hands, smashing it across their head and knocking them out instantly.
With a huff of air Olivia crushed the gun with her strength and tossed it onto the unconscious man. As she turned, she finally noticed the small audience she had; a maskless Matthew and Nadeem had rushed up the stairs upon hearing the fight and just as Nadeem opened his mouth to speak, his wife poked her head out of the door.
Olivia gave the woman a small smile, nodding to her, "It's safe."
Nadeem pulled his son into a bruising hug, his face lifting to meet Olivia's gaze. "Who are you?"
"Olivia Hale." The wolf spoke as picked out a piece of metal that had lodged itself inside of her palm upon shattering the gun. She flicked the metal onto the floor, trickles of blood slowing to a stop as her palm quickly sealed itself. A smile tugged at her lips. "You with us?"
"I'm with you."
